the persuaders

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/persuaders/

very interesting---i was reminded that the iconic bohemian rebel himself scored a victoria secrets add. yes, our very own free-wheelin' bob dylan. 'and the times, they are a changin' the psycologist come market analyst came up with a system--saying that there is a gut reaction in humans that sways them towards products--not any logic. He gets paid hundreds of millions to come up with the core of the gut reactions so that car companies can sell more cars, etc. it's utterly disgusting. he convinced suv companies to make their suv's bigger and with tinted windows--because buying an suv was about power. and it worked! politicians are using these tactics. hey, did you know as an american you are catagorized in one of 70 catagories? acxiom has a data base file on each and every consuming american. yep... that would be you right there. and they spit you out in one of 70 catagories. using companies like this one, politicians were able to know what issues you are most likely to vote on BEFORE they knocked on your door this election or sent you that brochure. it's sick, isn't it? feels like a violation of privacy, doesn't it? is it? i mean, it's for our own consuming good, right?
