navigating cultures is quite a tedius task. i'm a pretty outspoken person. maybe that's why i agreed w/ nyc so much. you can be narcissistic and empathetic in one breathe. it's actually an unacknowledged acknowledgement. really.
then i had to navigate through minneapolis. minnesotans are known to be reserved, yet very nice. "minnesota nice" or as some call it, "minnesota ice".
what i missed most when i lived in minneapolis was the making friends through being somewhere. the networking. in new york, you might as well advertise your number--it's in so many people's hands. there is such a 6 degrees in ny---with 8 million people it's an amazing thing when you realize you know someone who knows someone who knows someone. i love it.
i do think minneapolis has 1) the most FANTASTIC indie rock radio station. and a cutting edge museum. the art world? ah, it's a bit insular for my taste.
but anyway.... i digress.
navigation. so now i'm in toronto.
it's a different country, man. very similar issues, very similar politics... but a whole new country. and LOTS to navigate through.
not sure... lacking grounding. same but not same. similar... but quite different.
brooklyn: if you can hear me--and i know you can, because i still feel you talking to me when i walk through the streets. brooklyn: save a little place (in ft greene preferribly) for me... i'll be coming home soon.
