Radio

Anyone else listening to NPR yesterday when they said GWB makes 850,000 and pays $22000 in taxes for his ranch? Folks, that's 3% of his salary. You know what your average is for middle class citizens? close to 30%.

***I'm wrong! I misunderstood! GWB made clost to $800,000 and paid $22,000 in property taxes on his ranch (which he claimed when it came time to do income taxes)... he also paid around $200,000 in income taxes--on target with the average. I stand corrected and thanks to annonymous poster that posted a comment.***

Did they source that NPR report or was it just some random guy off the street making an allegation?

I don't remember if they sourced it, but I just did some research and I stand corrected. Here's the article from the Washington Post:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A56534-2005Apr15.html

They paid $22,000 in property taxes on their ranch. They paid around $200,000 in taxes for the year 2004 for a total asset of almost $800,000--somewhere between 1/4 and 1/3. Thanks for your comment, the NPR statement confused me.
